The ANZ Youth Account gives young people, aged less than 19 years, everything they need to get their finances started.

Fees and charges
ANZ Youth Account holders are exempt from all normal account and transaction fees.*
Interest rates

Interest is earned from the first dollar deposited. It is calculated on the daily balance and paid monthly on the account's key date.**

The ANZ Youth Account is available to New Zealand residents under 19 years old.

Account access age restrictions

The following indicates the levels of access ANZ Youth Account holders will have, relative to their age.

Under seven years
  • You cannot withdraw money from your account or appoint an agent to withdraw money on your behalf.
  • If a parent or guardian wishes to make withdrawals from an account belonging to a child under seven years old, the account must be opened "in trust" and operated in the best interests of the child.
Between seven and 14 years
  • You can have signing authority on your Youth Account as long as you have the written consent of a parent or guardian.
  • You can apply for an ANZ EFTPOS card and Phone and Internet Banking, as long as a parent or guardian signs the indemnity form.
  • Parents and guardians of children over the age of seven may not make withdrawals from their children's accounts, except in exceptional circumstances and at ANZ's discretion.
15 years or older
You can operate your account independently.

** The day you open your account is the start of each monthly key-date cycle. So if you open your account on the 11th of the month, your account's key date cycle will run from the 11th of that month to the 10th of the following month.
